 International students are welcome at Southwell School at all levels of the school. Southwell School one of the leading Independent day and boarding primary schools in New Zealand. We cater for children from Year 1 to Year 8 and provide excellent education in a caring culturally diverse environment. We are located in a city with a population of 140,000 and are situated one hours drive from New Zealand’s largest airport.
Immigration Criteria
A student visa is required. This can be done either in your country, or once you are in New Zealand. This can be applied for once a place has been offered, and the fee is paid. New Zealand Immigration requirements state that children under the age of 12 years old are to be accompanied by either a parent or a legal guardian, or stay in an approved Boarding facility. Southwell School has excellent Boarding facilities for children aged 8 and over. A guardian is required in New Zealand. If help is needed with this, we can recommend someone.
ESOL
English as a second language (ESOL) is available for those who need it and students will receive individual attention for as long as it is required.
Pastoral Care
The International Student Manager takes a personal interest in each student. Southwell School is a signatory to the Code of Practice for International Students published by the Ministry of Education.
